Architecture Undergraduate Projects

Healthy Experimentations

Healthy Experimentations is a project focused on human health and planetary sustainability, exploring innovative ways to keep both thriving. The project investigates diverse vegetarian protein sources and sustainable food production, aiming to minimise waste. The site promotes wellness with exercise machines that generate renewable energy and offers an immersive dining experience.

Model Making

Model making is a crucial part of both the iterative process of design and the communication of a final proposal. When iterating with design, I find models are useful in solving problems within a design, but also act as a fun, calm break from the drawing element of design. Combining interesting aesthetics whilst experimenting with details and structural feasibility with a design through modelling is where I find the most enjoyment and best use of model making.

Marshland Dwelling

Marshland Dwelling is a 2-phase project exploring the needs of marsh dwellers. The 2 phases meant 2 locations. Phase 1 involved designing a small food cabin that had to be elevated above a landscaped marsh on a small space by the River Kennet by The Oracle, Reading. Phase 2 of the project moved up the River Kennet and along the River Thames to a small island situated at Sonning Lock, Reading. Phase 2 was linked as I designed a marshland hub with a dwelling for residents.

Sombrillian Studios

Sombrillian Studios is a retrofit project of Jupps Warehouse, an old industrial warehouse in Brentford, London. The design? To create a space for fashion creatives inspired by the sombrero and the clothing function of shading + cooling.

Cinematic Vistas

Cinematic Vistas is 10 dwelling apartment complex project set in Coley Park, Reading. The apartment complex has been designed specifically for a small film and entertainment crew and their families. Each dwelling has framed views to give a clear view of the scenery

Drawing by Hand

Starting my architectural design journey by hand was important as it provided a foundation for my approach to design. It helped me with understanding the scale, detail and precision needed in a drawing. Although my final drawings are now curated through digital software, I still design largely by hand in the preliminary stages of design and when experimenting with different concepts and testing ideas.

Experimenting with Software & Graphics

Visual communication is a crucial aspect of presenting a project. It is the gateway between the concept and the words behind a design in your head through graphics and drawings. I enjoy trying different software and exploring other ways to approach design iterations and different outputs for projects. Here is a collection of works where I tested using software and different architectural drawings.

Dissertation

‘Does the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium provide a sustainable match day experience and achieve both successful community engagement and urban integration into Tottenham as a city?’

For my dissertation, I decided to explore fan engagement and urban integration with stadium design. Led by my interest in sports and stadium architecture, my case study for this was the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. My research into a sustainable experience looked at both the facility use and how the stadiums operate on a match-day, as well as how the stadium and having a match at the stadiums impact their immediate urban environment.
